The Moorim Paper Paper Airplane Competition awards the winner with the official champion record from the Korea Paper Airplane Association, as well as the 'Jinju Mayor's Award,' 'Air Force Education Commander's Award,' and 'Jinju Office of Education Superintendent's Award.' It is the only and largest official paper airplane competition in Korea, with national paper airplane representatives serving as judges during the event.
The Moorim Paper Paper Airplane Competition first took place in 2017, when the concept of a paper airplane competition was still unfamiliar. The previous competition attracted high interest from paper airplane fans, with about 2,000 participants.
This year’s competition will feature a special exhibition of a History Wall within the venue to commemorate the legacy of the paper airplane competition. Posters from the 1st to 4th Moorim Paper Paper Airplane Competitions, official champion records, and on-site photos will be displayed to allow attendees to reflect on the history of the event.
The competition will also include various events. These include a mini-competition concept called the ‘Paper Airplane Triathlon,’ a ‘Paper Card Flipping Event,’ and a unique ‘paper’ experience and play area where children can safely enjoy and learn about the environmental value of paper. A ‘photo booth’ will also be operated where families can take instant photos on Moorim’s photo paper to create lasting memories.
A Moorim Paper representative stated, "The longest flight record at the first competition in 2017 was 30 meters, but the record was renewed to 50.7 meters at the 2024 competition," adding, "As the competition continues, we feel the skills of Korea’s paper airplane enthusiasts improving, and we ask you to pay attention to the new champion’s record that will be set at this year’s event."
Meanwhile, the "2024 5th Moorim Paper KOREAN CUP Paper Airplane Competition," which consists of three categories?‘Longest Flight,’ ‘Longest Duration,’ and ‘Aerobatic Flight’?is open to everyone from kindergarteners to adults, with free participation.
