This activity involved throwing 3,000 pre-made EM mud balls into the Gwangryeocheon Stream to purify the water. Environmental preservation campaign banners were also installed along the walking paths to encourage local residents to participate in making Gwangryeocheon Stream free of litter.
EM mud balls, after fermenting for a certain period, gradually dissolve when introduced into rivers or streams, purifying the water and eliminating odors. When the ecosystem of rivers and streams recovers, it can also absorb and reduce carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.
Kim In-gyu, CEO of HiteJinro, said, "On the occasion of our 100th anniversary, we hope that the sincerity behind HiteJinro’s expanded environmental cleanup activities will spread positive influence throughout our society," adding, "We will continue to fulfill our role as a centennial company through efforts for the environment and ecosystem."
Meanwhile, to commemorate its 100th anniversary, HiteJinro is carrying out environmental cleanup activities, including throwing EM mud balls, starting from areas near its beer and soju factories in Wanju, Jeonbuk; Changwon, Gyeongnam; and Icheon, Gyeonggi. Following the event near the Mangyeong River by the Jeonju Factory in May, this is the second 'Creating Clear Rivers and Streams' project this year. The company plans to gradually expand cleanup activities targeting major rivers and streams nationwide.
