Democratic Party: "Busan Geumjeong By-election, Candidate from Joguk Hyuksindang Must Withdraw for Unification"

The Democratic Party of Korea on the 27th urged the Joguk Innovation Party regarding the 10·16 re-election and by-election for the Busan Geumjeong District Office head election, calling for "restraint in candidate registration and unification through withdrawal."

Hwang Myeong-seon, head of the Democratic Party's by-election support team, stated in a press release that "We deeply regret that the Joguk Innovation Party, which started by undermining the Democratic Party's Geumjeong candidate in this by-election that should judge the Yoon Seok-yeol administration, has not apologized and has come to the candidate registration deadline."

Hwang said, "A sincere apology would have been the foundation for restoring relations and solidarity," and "Even now, ahead of the candidate registration deadline, we urge the Joguk Innovation Party candidate to refrain from registering and to unify through withdrawal."

He added, "I believe they have already confirmed the competitive advantage of Democratic Party candidate Kim Gyeong-ji through internal opinion polls," and "there is no need to go through formal unification disputes or opinion polls."

Hwang emphasized, "Let us achieve victory in Busan Geumjeong through solidarity with the Joguk Innovation Party candidate's decision," and "Now is the time to return to our original intention and focus together on breaking the ice of the Yoon Seok-yeol administration."
