Yongin City to Expand Support Scope for Sick Leave Allowance Pilot Project Starting Next Month

Home and Outpatient Treatment Also Eligible for Benefits Beyond Hospitalization

Yongin City, Gyeonggi Province, announced on the 27th that it will expand the scope of support for the second phase pilot project of the 'Sangbyeong Subsidy' operating since July last year, starting from the 1st of next month.

The 'Sangbyeong Subsidy' is a system that pays 60% of the minimum wage to workers who are unable to work due to illnesses or injuries unrelated to their job, allowing them to focus on treatment. The support targets workers aged 15 to under 65 with an income below 120% of the median income (the lower 50% income bracket).

This expansion of the support scope follows the Ministry of Health and Welfare's change in the pilot project operation method. Accordingly, from next month, workers will receive the Sangbyeong Subsidy not only for hospitalization but also for home treatment and outpatient treatment.

To apply for the Sangbyeong Subsidy for home and outpatient treatment, a 'Sangbyeong Subsidy Application Medical Certificate' must be issued. The certificate can be obtained from medical institutions participating in the Sangbyeong Subsidy pilot project. Detailed information about participating medical institutions and required documents can be found on the National Health Insurance Service website.

Earlier, in July, the Ministry of Health and Welfare abolished the '7 billion KRW property standard' requirement for receiving the subsidy and extended the maximum guaranteed subsidy period to 150 days. A city official said, "As the support scope has expanded to include home and outpatient treatment, we hope citizens who need help due to illness or injury will make good use of it."

Meanwhile, hospitals and clinics wishing to register as 'Medical Institutions Issuing Sangbyeong Subsidy Application Medical Certificates' can register at any time as participating medical institutions with the National Health Insurance Service.
