S-Oil Donates 150 Million Won to Protect Janghang Wetlands

S-Oil donated 150 million KRW to preserve Janghang Wetland in Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do, and to restore the habitat of otters.

On the 27th, S-Oil announced that it delivered the donation to Goyang City and the Hangang River Basin Environmental Office at the Janghang Wetland Ecology Center. Janghang Wetland is a Han River estuary wetland spanning Sinpyeong-dong, Janghang-dong, and Beopgot-dong in Goyang City, where natural monuments such as the white-naped crane and black-faced spoonbill, as well as endangered species, reside. Every year, about 30,000 waterfowl visit and inhabit this area.

Recognized internationally for its ecological value, it was registered as the 24th Ramsar Wetland site in Korea in May 2021. The Janghang Wetland Ecology Center, completed with support from S-Oil’s donations since 2021, will be open to the public free of charge until the end of the year.

S-Oil has been conducting social contribution activities to protect the natural ecosystem, including campaigns to protect Janghang Wetland and endangered natural monuments such as otters, cranes, Korean bullhead fish, longhorn beetles, and Chinese pond turtles.
