Rapid Increase in Childcare Demand Due to Recent Rise in Yangwon District Residents... Total of 5 Facilities Operating in Yangwon District
Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) held the opening ceremony of the public Daon Daycare Center in Yangwon District on the 26th.
Yangwon District boasts a large-scale community with over 3,000 households, following the move-in of five complexes earlier and the recent start of move-in for 1,438 households at Sinnyeo Station City Pradium The Terrace.
Accordingly, the daycare center was opened in response to the explosive increase in childcare demand from parents with young children.
The opening ceremony was attended by about 70 people, including Jungnang-gu Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi, daycare operation committee members, and related personnel. The event was conducted as a participatory program where parents and children were the main characters, featuring activities such as a paper airplane event, fitting the purpose of the daycare center.
Daon Daycare Center has a total floor area of 247.82㎡ and is equipped with four childcare rooms, a playroom, and an outdoor playground, capable of caring for a total of 40 children. Recruitment of children began in July, and operations started in September.
With the opening of Daon Daycare Center, the total number of public daycare centers in Jungnang-gu has reached 67, and a total of five daycare centers are now operated within Yangwon District.
The district is exploring various measures to expand public daycare centers, including converting existing private and home daycare centers into public ones, providing free leases, and new construction.
Jungnang-gu Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi said, “I am very pleased that the opening of Daon Daycare Center will reduce the childcare burden for residents of Yangwon District,” adding, “We will do our best to create a stable childcare environment so that residents feel that raising children in Jungnang is a good choice and so that children can receive healthy education.”
The district supports various types of educational facilities and programs, including operating the public Dawon Daycare Center in Yangwon District, the Seoul-style kids cafe ‘Jungnang Indoor Playground Yangwon,’ and the ‘Yangwon Media Center.’
