Award Ceremony for 52 Outstanding Contributors to Social Welfare in Busan... Encouragement and Morale Boost Expected

On the 27th at 3 p.m., the city of Busan will hold a commemorative event at the outdoor stage of Busan Citizens Park to mark the '25th Social Welfare Day' and the '31st Busan Welfare Month'.

Busan City Holds Ceremony for the 31st Busan Welfare Month

'Social Welfare Day' is a commemorative day established to promote understanding of social welfare and to encourage the activities of social workers and related professionals.

When the 'Social Welfare Services Act' was revised in 1999, September 7, the promulgation date of the 'National Basic Livelihood Security Act', was designated as 'Social Welfare Day'. The commemoration began in 2000, making this the 25th anniversary.

The city has been holding commemorative ceremonies for 'Busan Welfare Month' every September since 1994, ahead of the national government, marking its 31st year. Since 2003, the city has also celebrated 'Social Welfare Day' alongside, hosting joint events.

This year's ceremony will be attended by around 200 people, including award recipients, welfare facility workers, and citizens. The event will proceed in the order of commendations for distinguished contributors, a commemorative address, and congratulatory remarks.

The honorees include: ▲12 recipients of ministerial commendations for the 25th Social Welfare Day ▲6 recipients of the Social Contribution Award ▲25 recipients of mayoral commendations for the 31st Busan Social Welfare Month ▲3 contributors to the promotion of donation culture ▲6 recipients of commendations from the Busan Social Welfare Council, totaling 52 individuals.

The city plans to boost the morale of social welfare workers by awarding certificates of commendation to those who have contributed to social welfare.

In addition, since September is Welfare Month, this ceremony is expected to be a meaningful occasion to encourage those who have worked hard for the development of welfare in the Busan region.

Notably, this year, the '051 Film Festival (Busan Welfare Film Festival)' with the theme of 'Care' will be held at Busan Citizens Park over two days, from the 27th to the 28th. Visitors can experience award-winning '051 Films' and various hands-on and exhibition booths centered around the theme of care.

'051 Film' refers to social welfare films that incorporate Busan's area code, 051. These are videos produced directly by citizens, either 51 seconds or 5 minutes and 1 second in length.

The experience booths and exhibitions include ▲care throughout the life cycle ▲the language of care ▲our home with care, among other related hands-on booths.

Bae Byungchul, Director of Social Welfare for the city, stated, "Above all, I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to all social welfare professionals who are at the forefront of making Busan a 'welfare city' and a 'warm community.' We will support social welfare workers so they can work with pride, listen more closely to voices from the field, and reflect them in our policies. The core of our city's '15-Minute City Policy' is for everyone to care for one another within good social relationships and to find happiness within that. I ask that we all become One-Team to make Busan a city so livable that you would want to be born here again."
