Hanwha Aerospace announced on the 26th that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for joint research on the advancement of energy storage system (ESS) management systems with the Korea Electronics Technology Institute (KETI).
On the 24th, Hanwha Aerospace signed an MOU with KETI's Gwangju Regional Headquarters to conduct joint research aimed at improving the Battery Management System (BMS). The BMS is a key component applied to ships, submarines, and other platforms, enabling real-time monitoring of the remaining lifespan and operational status of ESS. Through this joint research, they plan to develop technology that more accurately assesses the remaining lifespan of ESS and adjusts ESS output under optimal conditions accordingly.
Son Seung-hyun, Head of the Energy Systems Research Center at Hanwha Aerospace, stated, "Based on decades of accumulated demonstration data from Hanwha Aerospace and KETI, we will refine KETI's battery life prediction technology to develop not only BMS but also various ESS technologies."
Won Kwang-ho, Head of KETI's Gwangju Regional Headquarters, said, "KETI has led lithium-ion battery monitoring, diagnosis, and operation technologies as the lead institution in numerous government projects. Through this collaboration, we will add optimal operational efficiency to Hanwha Aerospace's cutting-edge ESS technologies such as immersion cooling ESS, securing global ESS technology leadership."
