"Come Play Park Golf"... Ulleung County Developing Tourism and Sports Combined Products

Ulleungdo, renowned for its breathtaking natural scenery, is making headlines by developing a travel package that combines tourism with park golf.

Ulleung Cruise, the ferry company operating the large ferry New Shidao Pearl between Pohang, Gyeongbuk and Ulleungdo, has launched the "1st National Park Golf Tournament" to attract tourists to Ulleungdo and establish a park golf course, and is now working on developing travel packages that incorporate this event.

Namhangwon, the governor of Ulleung County, is welcoming park golf enthusiasts visiting Ulleungdo.

The tournament, held on the 24th at the Hwasan Sherbill Park Golf Course in Gyeongju, attracted over 350 park golf enthusiasts from across the country.

After the successful conclusion of the tournament, participants arrived at Ulleung (Sadong Port) on the 25th, where they were welcomed by County Governor Nam Hankwon and embarked on a bus tour around the island. This "One-Night Cruise" package includes accommodation on the ferry, with the itinerary returning to Pohang on the same day after arriving at Ulleungdo.

Ulleung Cruise plans to further boost tourism and contribute to the local economy by continuously hosting national tournaments once a park golf course is established on Ulleungdo.

Cho Hyundeok, CEO of Ulleung Cruise, stated, "We will do our best to ensure park golf enthusiasts can fully enjoy their swings amidst the forests and seas of Ulleungdo," adding, "We will also take the lead in developing a variety of travel products, including not only the One-Night Cruise package but also extended-stay packages."

County Governor Nam Hankwon said, "As the region's only local company dedicated to revitalizing tourism, I thank Ulleung Cruise. Through this tournament and trip, we will actively pursue feasibility studies and other initiatives to establish a park golf course, so that Ulleungdo can become a mecca for park golf."
