Lee Jae-myung "Let's Be Careful with Words and Actions"... Kim Young-hwan Expresses 'Regret' over Inverse Investment Remarks

Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, told party members on the 26th to "be cautious in speech and behavior to avoid being caught on words."

Yoon Jong-gun, the Democratic Party floor spokesperson, conveyed at a closed-door party meeting that Lee said, "We are hearing evaluations from various senior figures in society that the Democratic Party is working hard," urging members accordingly.

Earlier, on the 24th, the Democratic Party held a policy debate to discuss the implementation of the financial investment tax. At the event, lawmaker Kim Young-hwan received criticism from stock investors and political circles after stating, "If you believe the stock price will decline, why not invest in inverse products (a method of investing in a falling market)?"

However, spokesperson Yoon said that Lee "did not specifically refer to anyone or express concrete remarks," adding that "he spoke in the context of conveying what he heard while meeting people around him during Chuseok."

Kim, who became controversial over his inverse investment remarks, apologized at the party meeting, expressing "regret over the careless choice of words," according to spokesperson Yoon.
