Arrested After Altercation with Drunk Pedestrian
Denies Charges
A man in his 30s who stabbed a teenage girl with a weapon and fled in downtown Suncheon, Jeollanam-do, was arrested by the police.
On the 26th, Yonhap News reported, "The Suncheon Police Station urgently arrested a man in his 30s, identified as A, on suspicion of murder." A is accused of stabbing an 18-year-old girl, B, with a weapon around 12:44 a.m. at a parking lot in Jorye-dong, Suncheon City, and then fleeing the scene. B was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment but ultimately passed away.
A was arrested by police officers who responded to a 112 emergency call after he got into an argument with pedestrians on the street while intoxicated. The police reportedly identified and tracked A’s appearance based on witness testimonies and closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage from the area.
Police investigations confirmed that A resides near the crime scene. The weapon used in the crime has not yet been found.
A is known to deny the charges. The police are investigating the exact circumstances of the incident, including the motive, by questioning A.
