Jongkundang Holdings announced on the 26th that it will hold the 2nd Jongkundang Arts Ground Retrospective Exhibition at the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts Gallery from the 27th of this month to the 6th of next month.

Under the theme "The Time When Painting and Life Dance," this planned exhibition highlights the changes in the artistic activities and recent painting trends of the artists previously selected for the Jongkundang Arts Ground. It showcases 81 new works by 15 artists selected for the Jongkundang Arts Ground over five years from 2017 to 2021. Additionally, a special exhibition featuring recent works by 15 artists selected from 2012 to 2016 and 9 artists selected from 2022 to 2024 will be held simultaneously. Furthermore, an archive section displaying interview videos, catalogs, and individual publications of artists selected over the past 13 years will be set up to provide opportunities for communication between artists and visitors.

Kim Chang-young, an artist selected in 2018, said, "This exhibition is especially meaningful as it brings together works by 39 artists who have been selected for the Jongkundang Arts Ground," adding, "It will be a great opportunity to share the artistic worlds of past selected artists and build networks."

A representative of Jongkundang Holdings stated, "The retrospective exhibition of selected artists is a place to vividly convey the creative activities of emerging painters recognized for their potential and to share painting values with fellow artists," and added, "We will continue to provide opportunities for contemporary artists to take a step forward through ongoing support for selected artists."

Jongkundang Holdings will also hold the 11th Jongkundang Arts Ground Special Exhibition from the 10th to the 21st of next month in Gallery 1 of the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts, featuring works created over three years by three artists selected in 2022: Park Si-wol, Oh Se-kyung, and Choi Soo-jung. On the 12th, an academic discussion titled "2024 Jongkundang Arts Ground Colloquium" will be held at the Sejong Art Gallery Open Gallery. Painters, including past selected artists of the Jongkundang Arts Ground, will gather to discuss the artistic worlds of the three artists and the trends in contemporary painting.

Since 2012, Jongkundang Holdings has selected three emerging artists annually through the Jongkundang Arts Ground, supporting a total of 39 artists to date. Selected artists receive an annual creative support fund of 10 million KRW for three years, and in the final year of support, they are given the opportunity to hold a special exhibition.
