Yongin City "Get City Points When Citizens Verify at Tourist Attractions"

Visit 46 Tourist Spots in the District and Sister Cities to Receive 1,000 Won
Can Be Converted to Local Currency and Used via CityPoint App

Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province is hosting an event that awards citizens 1,000 won in 'City Points' when they visit local tourist attractions such as the Korean Folk Village or tourist sites in eight sister cities.

This event, running from the 28th of this month until the end of the year, targets six tourist sites within Yongin and 40 tourist sites across the eight sister cities.

'City Points' is a system that allows mileage accumulated on credit cards and other platforms to be converted into the local currency 'Y-Pay' for use. The city has been operating this system since April of last year.

To participate in the event, citizens must install the 'City Points' application on their smartphones and complete identity verification. After verification, the system automatically links with the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's resident registration information system to generate a 'Yongin Citizen ID' QR code. Citizens can then use this QR code at the entrance of local tourist sites to receive benefits without presenting a separate ID.

The event's target tourist sites within Yongin include ▲Yongin Natural Recreation Forest ▲Rural Theme Park ▲Hantaek Botanical Garden ▲Korean Folk Village ▲Daejanggeum Theme Park ▲Insect Theme Park. The same benefits are available at 40 tourist facilities in the eight sister cities, including Sokcho City in Gangwon Province; Jindo County, Wando County, and Gwangyang City in Jeollanam-do; Yeongcheon City in Gyeongsangbuk-do; Goseong County and Sacheon City in Gyeongsangnam-do; and Danyang County in Chungcheongbuk-do.

City Points are awarded once per location per citizen, and the accumulated points can be converted into local currency for use.

A city official stated, "We have prepared this event to revitalize the local tourism industry in the fall," adding, "Citizens can enjoy entrance fee discounts and City Points incentives in sister cities without presenting an ID."
