A Chinese woman who fell off a 34-meter cliff by her husband successfully gave birth after recovery.
According to the South China Morning Post (SCMP) on the 24th, Chinese woman Wang Nan (37) announced on social media on the 17th, during the Mid-Autumn Festival (Chuseok), that she had given birth to a baby boy. She also attached a photo of herself holding the baby while looking at the full moon.
In June 2019, while vacationing at Phu Tham National Park in northeastern Thailand, Wang Nan was pushed off a 34-meter-high cliff by her husband, resulting in a miscarriage. At the time, she was three months pregnant and her life was in danger. Her husband, Yu Xiaodong, attempted to kill her to seize her assets to pay off gambling debts. He was sentenced to 33 years and 4 months in prison by a Thai court and is currently serving his sentence.
Due to the accident, Wang Nan suffered fractures in 17 parts of her body. She had to rely on a wheelchair for three years with over 100 metal pins inserted. After intense rehabilitation training, she was able to walk on her own starting last year. Wang Nan moved to express her gratitude to the 119 rescue workers who saved her at the time of the accident. She stated, "Before it was too late, I traveled to Thailand to show my appreciation to the rescue workers who saved me."
However, Wang Nan has not disclosed information about the father of the child, only stating that she became pregnant through in vitro fertilization. In an interview with Chinese media after the accident, she said, "All men are scary," and "I don't know if I can love a man again." Along with the news of her childbirth, Wang Nan said, "If it weren't for you, I wouldn't have been able to continue living, nor would I have had the chance to welcome new life again," and expressed gratitude to everyone who supported her throughout her life. Netizens who heard the news sent her encouragement and support, saying, "Congratulations from the bottom of my heart," "Forget the pain and enjoy happy times with your baby," and "You have been through so much."
Meanwhile, after rehabilitation, Wang Nan has settled in Hangzhou, eastern China, and started anew. She is currently selling cosmetics through live streaming, and it is known that she has 4.4 million followers.
