Scene Capturing Painkiller Administration to Surrendered Soldier
A Russian soldier who surrendered to a drone flying toward him received a package containing painkillers and water instead of a bomb. This video, released through the closed social networking service (SNS) 'Telegram,' has moved people around the world.
On the 25th (local time), the British daily newspaper The Telegraph released an 18-minute video recently published by the Ukrainian military on Telegram. This video is a compilation that details the process of a drone camera deployed at the front guiding a surrendered Russian soldier to friendly trenches.

In the actual footage, a Russian soldier is seen lying inside a trench. The soldier appeared injured and unable to move, but upon seeing the drone flying toward him, he clasped his hands together to signal his surrender.
The Ukrainian military operates first-person view (FPV) drones used by the Russian military, which typically carry lethal weapons such as bombs and approach the enemy to explode. However, what flew to this soldier was unexpectedly not a bomb but a 'support box.' The drone dropped a package tied with a painkiller injection and a water bottle near the soldier.

After confirming the water bottle and syringe, the soldier repeatedly nodded and made the sign of the cross toward the drone camera to express gratitude. Then, after drinking water, he read the safety instructions written on the enclosed note and injected the painkiller into his arm. The video ends as the soldier leaves the Russian trench with the drone and arrives at the Ukrainian trench.
The exact date of the video recording has not been disclosed to protect the soldier's safety. However, The Telegraph reported that the Ukrainian battalion that released this video was deployed at the front line in the Donbas region.
Meanwhile, netizens were moved after seeing the Russian soldier safely reach the Ukrainian trench. Comments included, "Isn't that Russian soldier someone's son too?", "This video should spread throughout Russia," "I hope Putin, who caused suffering to such young men, is judged," and "I served in the US Marine Corps and sometimes felt compassion for the enemy. I can understand the feelings of this drone operator."
