KBS Symphony Orchestra's Performance of Bruckner Symphony No. 5 with an 80-Minute Runtime

In the First Part of the Performance, Bruch Violin Concerto No. 1

The KBS Symphony Orchestra will perform Bruckner's Symphony No. 5, which lasts 80 minutes, at the 806th regular concert held on the 27th at Lotte Concert Hall.

Pietari Inkinen, music director of the KBS Symphony Orchestra, will conduct this regular concert themed "Romantic Fantasy," with German violinist Arabella Steinbacher as the soloist.

In the first half, Steinbacher will perform Bruch's "Violin Concerto No. 1." Composed by Bruch in 1866, this piece features romantic melodies and showcases the soloist's brilliant technique. It is also the most frequently performed work among Bruch's compositions.

Steinbacher has gained international recognition through collaborations with the New York Philharmonic, Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, and others. Her extensive repertoire includes not only classical and Romantic concertos but also works by Barber, Bart?k, Bruch, and Khachaturian.

In the second half, Bruckner's Symphony No. 5, distinguished by its grand structure and complex harmonies, will be performed. This masterpiece, lasting over 80 minutes, is rarely heard in live performances. It is regarded as a work containing the deep musical insight and inspiration of composer Bruckner himself, who described it as "fantastic."

Marking the 200th anniversary of Bruckner's birth this year, the KBS Symphony Orchestra continues to spotlight his great works. In July, under the baton of Hans Graf, they performed Bruckner's Symphony No. 9.

A representative of the KBS Symphony Orchestra said, "Bruch's Violin Concerto No. 1 and Bruckner's Symphony No. 5 are characterized by Romantic melodies. We hope the audience will close their eyes, open their ears, and immerse themselves in the grand yet delicate beauty to experience the world of 'Romantic Fantasy.'"

Tickets for the KBS Symphony Orchestra's 806th regular concert are available through Interpark and Lotte Concert Hall.
