From Customized Education Consulting to One-Stop Support System Development
The ‘Yangcheon Education Support Center’ was established by Yangcheon-gu, a representative educational city, to build a self-directed learning and college admission support system in response to the rapidly changing educational environment and to nurture future talents for the 4th Industrial Revolution era.
The ‘Yangcheon Education Support Center’ spans a total floor area of 1,038㎡, with one basement floor and three above-ground floors. It consists of ▲a counseling room and Career and Job Experience Support Center on the 1st floor ▲Mokdong Future Education Support Center on the 2nd floor ▲a multipurpose hall and meeting rooms on the 3rd floor, designed to allow youth and parents to access various educational services in one space.
On the 1st floor counseling room, professional consultants provide counseling tailored to individual characteristics, offering learning methods and strategies, and operate consulting services to assist with practical college admission and career planning. Additionally, the ‘Career and Job Experience Support Center’ offers opportunities to experience and explore various professional fields linked to the school curriculum, helping students to set clearer career paths.
The 3rd floor ‘Multipurpose Hall,’ which can host parent academies and small-scale college admission briefings, will hold special lectures and briefings according to the schedule to provide the latest information on the changing educational environment and help students and parents avoid confusion during college entrance preparation.
On the 2nd floor of the center, the ‘Mokdong Future Education Support Center’ has been established to nurture digital future talents by allowing students to experience future technologies in the 4th Industrial Revolution fields such as artificial intelligence (AI) education, autonomous driving, and extended reality (XR). When the ‘Neolbundeul Future Education Center’ (Sinwol area) opens next month, together with the ‘Smart Yangcheon Future Education Center’ in Sinjeong-dong, regional future education centers will be completed, supporting children and youth to actively prepare for the coming future society.
Meanwhile, the district is strengthening administrative support across all education sectors, including college admission and career, global future education, and lifelong education, to realize Yangcheon as a happy educational city for all.
Aiming to be a residential educational city where lifelong learning is possible, the district has built a ‘Lifelong Learning Integrated Portal’ that gathers about 1,600 courses from 57 institutions in the region, expanded lifelong education infrastructure by establishing the Sinwol Lifelong Learning Center and Sinwol Culture and Arts Center, and remodeled outdated youth reading rooms into public study cafes to strengthen the foundation for self-directed learning.
Last year, the ‘Y Education Expo,’ held nationwide for the first time by a basic local government, has become Korea’s representative education expo, attracting over 85,000 visitors over two years.
Going forward, the district plans to provide diverse and high-quality educational programs and strengthen out-of-school public education through collaboration with domestic and international educational institutions and advanced technology companies, based on the enhanced educational infrastructure.
Lee Gi-jae, the district mayor, said, “We will do our best to ensure that the newly opened Yangcheon Education Support Center establishes itself as a comprehensive education support leading model that provides high-quality educational services as a hub for customized learning, college admission, and career education.”
