The Youth Green Convenience Store is a socially responsible specialized store jointly planned and operated by 7-Eleven and Brothers Keeper, a social enterprise creating jobs, to address the challenges faced by youth preparing for independence. Youth preparing for independence refers to adolescents who leave child care facilities according to discharge criteria and enter society. The Youth Green Convenience Store project was initiated through the '2024 Social and Environmental Problem Solving Support Project' conducted by the Gyeonggi-do Social Economy Center, and profits generated from store operations will be used to support these youth.

The Youth Green Convenience Store is intended to serve as a kind of vocational training and educational space prepared by 7-Eleven and Brothers Keeper to encourage and provide practical help for youth preparing for independence to stand on their own. Youth preparing for independence within Gyeonggi-do can participate in this project through Brothers Keeper.

7-Eleven supports vocational education activities through mentoring for youth preparing for independence working at the Youth Green Convenience Store. Training on store operations and entrepreneurship support is provided, and outstanding operators with more than one year of experience will receive benefits when starting a 7-Eleven franchise or seeking employment. Various vocational experiences are also supported, such as producing and selling products directly planned by the youth working at the store.

Along with the opening event, an administrative welfare center located in Manan-gu, Anyang City, Gyeonggi-do, hosted a business agreement ceremony between 7-Eleven and the Gyeonggi-do Social Economy Center for ‘Solving Social and Environmental Issues in Gyeonggi-do and Supporting the Growth of Social Economy Organizations.’

Through this agreement, 7-Eleven and the Gyeonggi-do Social Economy Center will promote mutual cooperation on projects including the Youth Green Convenience Store project, joint promotion of open innovation support projects, mutual consultation for sharing information and resources to support the growth of social economy organizations, and the joint discovery of other cooperative projects.

Kim Young-hyuk, Head of Operations at 7-Eleven, said, “This business agreement holds special significance as 7-Eleven and the Gyeonggi-do social economy institutions can work together to support the start of youth preparing for independence. Taking this as an opportunity, each organization will do its best to solve various social problems within Gyeonggi-do and strive to create sustainable synergy.”
