Dong-A Pharmaceutical has positioned the safety and health of stakeholders as core values of corporate management and has been promoting various activities to create a safe company and a safe society based on its safety and health management system.
A representative activity is the Industrial Safety and Health Committee held quarterly. Safety and health general managers and supervisors from all workplaces, including headquarters, research centers, and factories, participate to share the status of industrial accidents and to decide on important safety and health-related matters. In addition, Dong-A Pharmaceutical’s three production plants in Dangjin, Incheon, and Cheonan, which are certified with the Safety and Health Management System (ISO45001), establish and operate detailed safety and health goals to identify potential hazards and risks, and conduct risk assessments once a year.
Dong-A Pharmaceutical also conducts various campaign activities to raise safety and health awareness among its employees. They distributed the safety and health magazine, “Dong-A’s Safety and Dong-A’s Health Stories,” to employees. A slogan contest aimed at preventing safety accidents was also held for employees.
Last year, in cooperation with Dongdaemun Fire Station, they strengthened response capabilities through a simulated drill for major disaster response and provided an opportunity to raise awareness of disaster prevention. Employees received simulation safety training on cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), automated external defibrillator (AED) use, and evacuation equipment usage. During fire drills, they learned how to use escape devices and fire extinguishers, as well as methods to extinguish fires in their early stages.
Dong-A Pharmaceutical is also making efforts to promote safety awareness among citizens. Last year, they signed a business agreement with the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency to spread safety culture and distributed approximately 4.5 million paper bags printed with safety messages to 20,000 pharmacies nationwide.
A Dong-A Pharmaceutical official stated, "We will actively implement preventive measures against safety and health accidents in the workplace to establish and maintain a high level of safety and health culture."
