Recruitment of Kindergartens and Daycare Centers Participating in Education by October 4, Application Form Submission via Google
Green Leaders Conduct Practical Activities Alongside Theory to Enhance Children's Interest and Understanding
Mapo-gu (Mayor Park Gang-su) is recruiting kindergartens and daycare centers to participate in the ‘Visiting Environmental Guardian Practice Education for Young Children’ held in November until October 4.
This education program involves instructors who act as Green Leaders to help children understand the importance of environmental conservation and energy saving, and to establish correct values regarding the environment.
The target audience for the education is children aged 4 to 6 attending kindergartens and daycare centers located in Mapo-gu.
The Green Leaders will visit the applying institutions directly and conduct about 40 minutes of education. The program is composed of theoretical and practical activities to stimulate children’s interest and enhance understanding.
First, the children will receive theoretical education on the water cycle and water-saving methods that can be practiced in daily life under the theme ‘The Story of Circulating Water.’
Then, they will engage in an activity to make ‘My Own Tumbler Bag’ using fabric markers, learning about the importance of reducing disposable products and using tumblers.
Mapo-gu expects that through this education, young children will naturally become aware of the environment and form attitudes, behaviors, and values to address the seriousness of environmental issues and take action to solve them.
Kindergartens and daycare centers wishing to participate in the education can submit an application form via the Google application form. For more details about the education, please contact the Clean Environment Division of Mapo-gu.
Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu, said, “We have prepared visiting environmental education to instill the necessity of environmental protection and the will to practice it in children, who are the future generation,” and added, “Mapo-gu will provide generous support so that children can grow up in a cleaner and clearer environment.”
