Providing Customized Programs for All Generations Across the Life Cycle
Dongjak-gu, Seoul (Mayor Park Il-ha) has completed the construction of the 'Dongjak Family Culture Center,' which will serve as the core of family cultural welfare, and will open its doors anew in mid-next month.
The Dongjak Family Culture Center is a family cultural welfare space that combines the functions of the existing family center with the Kiwoom Center. It was promoted to provide integrated family services that all family members, from infants and children to parents, can enjoy together.
The newly constructed building was built on the site of the Sangdo Gukju Library (37 Maebong-ro) with a total floor area of 1,288.17㎡ and six floors above ground.
The first floor features a book rest area, caf?, and community yard, creating a complex communication space that any resident can freely use anytime during their daily life. The second floor is a specialized space for infant care, offering various activities tailored to the developmental stages of infants and young children, such as sensory stimulation play programs, and plans to form self-help parenting groups to share parenting stress relief and childcare information.
The third floor houses the 'Dream Kiwoom Center Sangdo,' targeting elementary school students from dual-income families who need after-school care. It operates various arts and physical activities, cooking classes for the whole family, and language classes for multicultural families. The fourth floor has classrooms for customized programs according to life cycles, the fifth floor contains offices and rest areas, and the sixth floor is equipped with professional psychological counseling spaces to enhance family relationships.
The district plans to improve the quality of life for residents by establishing a cooperative governance system with related institutions located around the center, such as the Silver Senior Welfare Center, Kim Young-sam Library, and Yedam Daycare Center, providing customized services for all generations throughout their life cycles.
On the 31st of next month, the district will hold an opening ceremony to commemorate the construction and relocation of the new Dongjak Family Culture Center building.
