Songpa-gu (Mayor Seo Gang-seok) announced that it will hold the ‘33rd Songpa Residents' Day Ceremony’ at 10 a.m. on the 27th at the Peace Plaza in Olympic Park.

‘Songpa Residents' Day,’ which marks its 33rd year this year, was established on September 17, the opening day of the Olympics, to commemorate and recreate the glory of Songpa, the host city of the 1988 Seoul Olympics. The ceremony is held annually to raise pride as residents of Songpa-gu.

This year, as in the previous year, the district adds significance by holding the event in conjunction with Songpa-gu’s representative festival, the ‘Hanseong Baekje Cultural Festival,’ at the Peace Plaza in Olympic Park, which embodies the Olympic spirit.

For this year’s ‘Songpa Resident Awards,’ a total of 15 individuals and groups will be selected in eight categories, including the prestigious ‘Resident Grand Prize’ awarded to those who contributed to making Songpa a premium city, as well as awards for filial piety, volunteer work, exemplary youth, resident harmony, education, culture and sports, regional economic revitalization, and civic organizations.

In particular, the highest honor, the ‘Resident Grand Prize,’ was awarded to ‘Korea National Sport University,’ which contributed greatly to raising national pride by winning 14 out of South Korea’s 32 medals at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
