Financial Services Commission Recommends Appointment of Kim Kyunghwan, Sogang University Emeritus Professor, as New President of Korea Housing Finance Corporation

Kim Kyunghwan, Nominee for President of Korea Housing Finance Corporation

On the 25th, Kim Byunghwan, Chairman of the Financial Services Commission, nominated Kim Kyunghwan, current Honorary Professor of Economics at Sogang University, as the new President of the Korea Housing Finance Corporation.

Nominee Kim is a scholar specializing in urban economics and has held various positions in the real estate field, including UNCHS (UN Habitat) Urban Finance Advisor, President of the Asian Real Estate Society, President of the Korea Housing Association, and President of the Korea Real Estate Analysis Society. In particular, he has expertise in real estate policy formulation and implementation through his administrative experience in public office, having served as President of the Korea Research Institute for Human Settlements and First Vice Minister of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.

The Financial Services Commission stated, "Nominee Kim is deemed the right person to smoothly carry out core functions such as housing finance supply and activation of housing pensions, based on his outstanding expertise and extensive experience in the housing market and institutional fields," and added, "He has been nominated as President of the Korea Housing Finance Corporation."

The President of the Korea Housing Finance Corporation is appointed by the President of the Republic of Korea upon the recommendation of the Chairman of the Financial Services Commission, following the candidate's nomination by the Korea Housing Finance Corporation Executive Recommendation Committee.
