Min Heejin Reappointed as Inside Director for a 3-Year Term

The conflict between HYBE and former ADORE CEO Min Hee-jin has entered a new phase. ADORE has decided to hold an extraordinary general meeting of shareholders to extend Min's term as an inside director. However, they have decided not to accept Min's return as CEO.

On the morning of the 25th, ADORE held a board meeting and resolved to convene an extraordinary general meeting of shareholders to reappoint Min as an inside director. It is reported that Min also attended the board meeting in the capacity of an inside director.

While Min maintained her stance demanding a return as CEO, she reportedly showed willingness to accept reappointment as an inside director for a three-year term. However, the board decided that it would be difficult to accept the demand for her return as CEO.

Earlier, on the 11th, ADORE had proposed to Min that she take charge of producing NewJeans for the next five years. The five years correspond to the entire remaining contract period with NewJeans.

On the same day, NewJeans members demanded HYBE to reinstate Min by the 25th through a live broadcast. During the live broadcast, NewJeans stated, "We do not want to conform, sympathize, or follow the society that those people (HYBE or the current ADORE management) belong to."

The industry evaluates that both HYBE (ADORE) and former CEO Min have agreed on a compromise plan of "maintaining inside director status, no CEO reinstatement, and continuing producing" in line with the 'deadline' set by NewJeans members.

However, since NewJeans' 'core demand' for Min's return was not fulfilled, it remains to be seen what choices the members will make going forward.

ADORE stated, "Since basic guarantees regarding the position, term, and authority as the PD in charge of producing NewJeans have been secured, we expect to negotiate specific conditions in the future," adding, "We have sent detailed email responses today to NewJeans members regarding the matters discussed at the board meeting and various inquiries."
