Gijang-gun, Busan (Governor: Jung Jongbok) will host the 18th Gijang Bungaeo Festival, organized by the Gijang Bungaeo Festival Promotion Committee, from October 5 to 6 in the area around Sinam Port, Gijang-eup.
Bungaeo (conger eel) is one of Gijang-gun's representative local specialties, available year-round. It is known as an excellent product rich in vitamins and protein, making it highly effective for promoting good health.
The Gijang Bungaeo Festival has been held annually since 2004, alternating between Chilam Port and Sinam Port, to widely promote the excellence of Gijang Bungaeo and to preserve and develop healthy traditional food culture.
This year, marking its 18th edition, the festival will begin with a parade and feature a variety of performances such as the Yeonhwari! Singing Contest, Busking Show, and Trot Concert (with invited singers Kim Soyou, Ryu Jigwang, and others). There will also be programs for all ages, including a seafood weight guessing game and shell bracelet making, making the event full of flavor and excitement.
In addition, the food market will offer fresh Bungaeo and seafood at affordable prices, providing visitors an opportunity to enjoy high-quality Bungaeo at a reasonable cost.
On the first day of the festival, a fireworks show with the theme "Gijang, City of Dreams Forever!" will be held at Jukdo, Sinam Port, offering a special experience for residents and tourists visiting the festival.
Chun Daewon, chairman of the Gijang Bungaeo Festival Promotion Committee, said, "We are preparing a more diverse and abundant selection of food and attractions than ever before to express our gratitude to the many tourists visiting the festival," and added, "We hope many people will visit and fully enjoy a festival filled with happiness along the beautiful sea of Sinam Port."
