Urban Golf Course Tianjin Opens as Overseas Expansion Strategy
Putting Practice on Actual Greens Around the Green
Golfzon City Golf China Open a Great Success and Praised
Golfzon has made a bold move for overseas expansion with CITY GOLF.
Golfzon, a subsidiary of Golfzon Nudin Holdings, developed this new business for the global market for the first time in the world. They introduced a hybrid golf platform aiming to be a premium golf course enjoyed within the city. CITY GOLF combines screen golf with field greens, bringing an 18-hole golf course into the city.
The first launch is in China. On the 1st, 'Tianjin CITY GOLF' opened at the Tianjin Meijiang Convention Center. It is a private membership golf course. An indoor space of over 16,500㎡ (about 5,000 pyeong) was set up with 18 screens and greens corresponding to 18 holes. To ensure a smooth introduction of the CITY GOLF new business in the Chinese market, Golfzon’s development team from Korea traveled back and forth to China to directly manage the project.
The core of CITY GOLF is the greens. They were developed by a professional green design company that designed greens for famous golf courses in Korea. Each of the 18 holes has a uniquely designed green. Players can fully enjoy the feeling of playing rounds at various real golf courses. Although it is a golf course established in the city, it combines the advantages of screen and field golf. It is an eco-friendly golf course that does not damage nature.
From the 13th, Golfzon held the 2024 Golfzon CITY GOLF China Open for three days at Tianjin CITY GOLF in China. The tournament had a total prize money of 1.5 million yuan (about 900 million KRW), with the winner’s prize also at 1.5 million yuan (about 200 million KRW). The event was hosted by Golfzon China, a joint venture of Golfzon, and organized by the China Golf Association.
A total of 100 players competed fiercely over four rounds, including 87 professional and amateur golfers who qualified through the preliminary rounds, Hong Jinju, Bae Kyung-eun, and five Thai players invited by the Asia Golf Leaders Forum (AGLF), and Kim Ha-neul invited by Golfzon. Yan Panpan (China) won by 3 strokes (8 over par 296). Hong Jinju took 2nd place (11 over par 299), and Kim Ha-neul finished 3rd (14 over par 302).
Park Kang-soo, CEO of Golfzon, said, "CITY GOLF is the future of eco-friendly urban golf courses. Anyone can have a vivid experience of playing a field round right in the middle of the city without weather or time constraints." He added, "Starting with China, we plan to expand into major cities worldwide and continue hosting tournaments using CITY GOLF. We expect CITY GOLF to become the world’s best golf platform providing a new golf experience never seen before."
