This is the new Ping Golf i530 iron. It features a sleek blade-style design. It was released for golfers who want to increase their distance. It offers a forged face and a refined muscle-back design. The key is the application of the metalwood VFT (Variable Face Thickness) technology. The forged Maraging Steel C300 face is combined with a 17-4 stainless steel hollow body. This transfers more energy to the ball, driving long distances.

The hollow structure design maximizes forgiveness through optimal weight distribution. It has a thin topline, a narrower sole, and a shallow face height. The sole is designed in an arch shape. It disperses impact shock and thins the transition area from the face to the sole. This maximizes the face’s flexibility and rebound, leading to higher ball speeds. Compared to the previous model, the back wall of the face is designed 40% thinner, lowering the center of gravity. This ensures stable trajectory and distance performance even on mishits.

It is configured with an optimal center of gravity and loft. Test results showed an average distance increase of about 3 yards. Tungsten weights on the toe and shaft tip shift weight to the heel and toe sides, achieving high forgiveness. Slightly off-center shots also have excellent directional correction. EVA polymer is placed inside to provide a soft feel and pleasant sound at impact. The face’s flexibility is maximized to produce high ball speeds.
