Every year, the county actively responds to sudden pests and diseases caused by abnormal climate by investing 511 million KRW from the contingency fund for comprehensive pest and disease control support from late July to early August. This time, an additional 100 million KRW from the contingency fund was urgently provided to carry out control measures.

The county is guiding farmers to thoroughly spray rice planthopper-specific pesticides, which are highly effective, under the rice stems in the fields where rice planthoppers have occurred. To prevent pesticide residue and drift, agricultural consultation offices in towns and townships are promoting and guiding pest control.

Shim Deok-seop, the governor of Gochang-gun, stated, "Minimizing rice planthopper damage and responding quickly and actively to abnormal climate and sudden pests and diseases is important." He added, "We will expand the supply of drones to each village and make an all-out effort to prevent rice planthopper damage through joint pest control."
