"Expectations for a Global Competitiveness Platform"
The 'Global Supply Chain Technology Demand-Supply Council Inauguration Ceremony', hosted by the City of Busan and the Human-Centered Carbon Neutral Global Supply Chain Research Center (SCSC Research Center, Director: Bae Hyerim, Professor of Data Science) at Pusan National University (President: Choi Jaewon), was held on the afternoon of the 24th at the Westin Chosun Busan in Haeundae-gu, Busan.
The global supply chain is a series of processes in which resources are procured, produced, and distributed across multiple countries and regions to produce and deliver products or services.
The 'Global Supply Chain Technology Demand-Supply Council' was established to facilitate matching between demand and supply companies in the field of global supply chain technology and to efficiently support related companies.
The event was attended by the City of Busan, Pusan National University, demand and supply companies in the integrated maritime-port-land supply chain technology sector, and especially major demand companies in global supply chain technology such as shipping companies and terminal operators. They discussed the adoption of supply companies' technologies and ways to cooperate with one another.
The inauguration ceremony began with an introduction of Busan City's projects related to the global supply chain, followed by a lecture on carbon neutrality trends in the maritime port logistics sector by Lee Eunkyung, Director of the Korea Maritime Institute, an introduction of the council, an introduction of the Pusan National University SCSC Research Center, a presentation on the council's vision and operation plans, and the appointment of committee members for the maritime, port, and land divisions. Attendees shared the latest technology trends in the global supply chain and explored ways to strengthen exchanges and cooperation through enhanced networking.
Going forward, the council plans to promote the commercialization of technologies developed at universities by linking them with local companies, thereby strengthening the global competitiveness of the regional industry.
To this end, they plan to share the status of technology adoption cases, government projects, and global supply chain businesses through monthly online and offline meetings. The number of participating companies will also be expanded from the current 40 to about 50.
Bae Hyerim, Director of the SCSC Research Center at Pusan National University, said, "This council will serve as an important platform to narrow the gap between demand and supply in global supply chain technology and to enhance competitiveness in the global market through mutual cooperation. In this process, our center will do its utmost to serve as a hub for the integrated maritime-port-land supply chain."
The City of Busan and Pusan National University expect that the council will become an important stepping stone for the development of the regional global supply chain technology industry and the strengthening of global competitiveness.
