Hanam City is receiving the Minister of Health and Welfare Award in recognition of its achievement in developing and operating an innovative program for dementia patients and their families. Hanam City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Hyun-jae) was honored with the Minister of Health and Welfare Award in recognition of its development and operation of innovative programs for dementia patients and their families.
According to Hanam City on the 25th, the Hanam Dementia Safety Center received the Minister of Health and Welfare Award at the '17th Gyeonggi Province Dementia Overcoming Day Ceremony' held on the 24th at Dasan Hall, Gyeonggi Human Resources Development Institute.
The Hanam Dementia Safety Center developed cognitive rehabilitation tools such as Gipumseo, a cognitive workbook verified for dementia prevention effectiveness by the Central Dementia Center, a coloring book, and Cloud Stamp (an art therapy tool), and received great responses while conducting programs using these tools.
In addition, for patients diagnosed with dementia and their families suffering from anxiety, the center implemented the 'Dementia Management Roadmap Education' to share systematic dementia management methods, and operated 'AI Happy Companion Aria,' providing AI-based customized support services.
Furthermore, the center received positive evaluations for actively implementing the 'Silver Bell Teacher' training program to expand cognitive enhancement education and for creating a cognitive health complex.
Based on these efforts, the Hanam Dementia Safety Center has been recognized as a model city for dementia management by changing perceptions of dementia and providing beneficial support to patients and their families.
Mayor Lee Hyun-jae stated, “This award is an external recognition of the passion of the Hanam Dementia Safety Center, which has worked to raise social awareness of dementia and spread social consensus on overcoming dementia,” and emphasized, “Hanam City will continue to promote various policy projects to provide better support for dementia patients and their families.”
