On the 24th, Kim Dong-geun, mayor of Uijeongbu City, participated as a one-day honorary resident autonomy committee member in the September regular meeting of the Heungseon-dong Residents' Autonomy Association (Chairperson Oh Young-kyung) to strengthen communication with local residents.

This event was organized as part of the city policy 'Dong(洞)geun(近) Communication' aimed at activating communication at the neighborhood (dong) level by allowing the mayor to listen closely to residents' voices.

On that day, Mayor Kim Dong-geun attended the meeting as a resident autonomy committee member and discussed major issues and policies of Heungseon-dong.

In particular, he spent time directly conversing with residents to reflect citizens' voices in city administration and to strengthen cooperation in the policy decision-making process.

The meeting covered key agenda items such as the progress of this year's projects including the installation of solar-powered light-emitting diode (LED) security lights, the results of visits to sister cities, and the 2024 Uijeongbu City Residents' Autonomy Association operation evaluation.

Prior to the regular meeting, a commissioning ceremony was held to appoint Mayor Kim Dong-geun as an honorary resident autonomy committee member of Heungseon-dong.

Chairperson Oh Young-kyung said, "The mayor's sincere effort to communicate closely with residents was very touching," and added, "We hope he will continue to be a mayor who works together with citizens through ongoing exchanges and communication with various organizations."

Mayor Kim Dong-geun stated, "We will activate communication with local residents to increase policy satisfaction and expand participation opportunities for groups that may feel marginalized, thereby strengthening the cohesion of the local community," and added, "We will do our best to enhance residents' trust in city administration and lay the foundation for Uijeongbu City to carry out more resident-centered governance."
