Pocheon Hantan River Y-Shaped Suspension Bridge Selected as a Candidate for the IABSE Outstanding Structure Award

Selected as one of the final 5 award nominees along with Spain, China, and Bangladesh

The Hantan River Y-shaped Suspension Bridge has been selected as a finalist representing Korea in the Structural Innovation category.

Gyeonggi Pocheon City (Mayor Baek Young-hyun) announced on the 25th that the Hantangang Y-shaped Suspension Bridge has been selected as a finalist for the Innovation in Construction category, representing Korea.

The International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering (IABSE) is an influential international bridge society in the field of bridges and structures, with over 4,500 members from more than 100 countries worldwide. The Pocheon Hantangang Y-shaped Suspension Bridge was selected as one of the final five award candidates alongside entries from Spain, China, and Bangladesh.

The final award winner will be decided at the IABSE event held in Switzerland on November 12.

The judging will be conducted by a rigorous panel of 18 judges from 16 countries, including candidates from various countries and academic committee members. The award ceremony will proceed through a nomination process.

Mayor Baek Young-hyun of Pocheon said, "As a result of our relentless efforts to develop the Hantangang area into the best ecological tourist destination in the metropolitan area, the 'Hantangang Y-shaped Suspension Bridge' has been selected as a finalist for the Innovation in Construction category. We will do our utmost not only to win the final award but also to make Pocheon Hantangang a nationwide tourist attraction."

Meanwhile, the 'Hantangang Garden Festa' is ongoing at the Pocheon Hantangang Ecological Landscape Complex until the 13th of next month.

Various attractions and activities are prepared, including the Y-shaped Suspension Bridge, colorful themed flower gardens, street performances, a dog playground where visitors can enjoy the festival with their pets, a variety of food and direct sales markets, and horticultural experience programs.
