KT announced on the 25th that it was selected as the 'Telecom Operator of the Year' at the 'Leading Lights Awards 2024.'
The Leading Lights Awards is an awards ceremony hosted annually by 'Informa,' a global information and communication technology (ICT) research organization, and 'Light Reading,' a specialized media outlet in the telecommunications field, recognizing the best telecom operators and services in various sectors.
The 'Telecom Operator of the Year' category, which KT won this time, is awarded to companies that have achieved technological innovation across various fields and consistently delivered results in the telecommunications industry. KT was highly evaluated for its efforts to transform into an AICT company based on network infrastructure such as the nationwide 5G SA network.
In February, KT contributed to improving wireless service quality by developing 'small cells' capable of simultaneously servicing 5G and LTE to expand 5G coverage, as well as 'RIS' technology that can guide radio wave reflection and transmission in desired directions.
Jae-hyung Koo, Executive Director of KT's Network Technology Headquarters, said, "This Leading Lights Award is a recognition of KT's AICT strategy on a global scale," adding, "We will lead innovation in telecommunications technology to become a successful AICT company."
