Fire Breaks Out in Gohyeon-dong, Geoje at Midnight... 2 Suffer Minor Injuries, 6 Treated for Smoke Inhalation

At around 1:53 a.m. on the 24th, a fire broke out on the first floor of a three-story studio apartment building in Jangpyeong-dong, Geoje, Gyeongnam Province.

According to the Gyeongnam Fire Department, two people?a Korean man in his 40s and a Vietnamese man in his 30s?who lived in the studio apartment sustained minor injuries, and six others were either transported to the hospital or received emergency treatment after inhaling smoke.

Some units affected by the fire, as well as household items such as a refrigerator, washing machine, and television, were damaged, resulting in estimated property losses of about 18.13 million won according to the fire department.

The fire was completely extinguished by the fire authorities who responded to the scene at around 2:22 a.m.

The fire authorities believe the fire started in the living room and are investigating the exact cause of the blaze.
