AWS AI Day: Innovation 개최
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is launching its generative artificial intelligence (AI) platform, 'Bedrock,' in the Seoul region (server zone). Domestic users will be able to use Bedrock from AWS data centers within Korea instead of overseas data centers.
Ben Cabanas, AWS Asia Pacific & Japan Regional Technical Director, announced this on the 24th at the 'AWS AI Day: Innovation' event held at Lotte Hotel Jamsil in Seoul.
Bedrock is a platform introduced by AWS last April. Customers can apply generative AI to services or apps using various large language models (LLMs) available on Bedrock. Users can access a range of AI foundation models, from AWS’s own LLM 'Titan' to Anthropic’s 'Claude,' considered a competitor to OpenAI, and Meta’s open-source 'LLaMA.' The advantage is the ability to quickly compare and evaluate different models to suit specific business needs.
Director Cabanas explained, "(Korean users) could use Bedrock from other regions, but there were issues with data sovereignty and latency," adding that opening the Seoul region will resolve these problems. However, he did not disclose a specific launch date.
Until now, domestic users accessed Bedrock through overseas data centers such as Singapore. This resulted in slower data processing speeds and raised concerns about data sovereignty compared to using domestic data centers.
AWS also introduced 'Amazon Q,' a generative AI-based software (SW) development assistant, and 'Amazon Bedrock Studio,' which allows even non-developers to easily create applications in natural language on Bedrock. Director Cabanas predicted, "Generative AI is the new standard and will be applied to all applications and everything we do."
Partners currently using AWS also took the stage at the conference.
Francis Pai, Head of Partnerships for Anthropic Asia Pacific, emphasized, "In a rapidly changing environment, it can be difficult to know what to develop," and added, "What we have learned from conversations with companies over the past year is that various models need to be utilized depending on the use case." Anthropic currently offers the latest models including 'Claude 3.5 Sonnet,' 'Claude 3 Opus,' and 'Claude 3 Haiku.'
Following this, Hee-jung Choi, Senior Manager of IT Strategy at Korean Air, shared a case study on innovating customer consultation services using AWS’s platform with AI. Sung-bae Gong, Head of AI & Data Analytics Center at Megazone Cloud, introduced 'GenAI360 v2,' a generative AI build and operation service for enterprises scheduled for release next month.
