A shocking story has been shared about a child who stretched their feet into the seat behind them on a plane and was reprimanded, only for the child's parents to tell the person to "get psychiatric treatment."
On the 23rd, JTBC's 'Sageon Banjang' introduced the story of Mr. A, who experienced a ridiculous incident on an international flight from Shenzhen, China to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on the 14th.
According to Mr. A, a Korean couple and a boy estimated to be an elementary school student were seated in front of him. Shortly after takeoff, the child continuously stretched his feet into the seat behind him. Mr. A claimed, "The child was not only stretching his feet but also swinging them up and down." Unable to tolerate it any longer, Mr. A asked the child's mother to intervene, but the parents took no action. So Mr. A directly admonished the child. He explained, "I am also a parent of four children, and I felt it was inappropriate to neglect children like this in a public facility, so I pointed it out."
Then the child's parents got angry, saying, "Why are you treating my child like that?" They began filming Mr. A with their phone camera. The parents said to Mr. A, "Why are you speaking informally and cursing? Why are you doing this to the child? You could just talk nicely." They continued, "Get psychiatric treatment. Don't take out your anger on an innocent child here."
Mr. A responded to the parents, "I did not curse. I said the child was misbehaving," and added, "Isn't it the parents' fault for not educating the child?" The parents then raised the camera higher and said, "If you have something to say, say it," followed by verbal abuse such as, "Are you mentally ill? Are you crazy?" "If you curse again, I will sue you," and "Make sure to get a good picture of my face. I will sue you later."
Lawyer Yang Ji-yeol, upon hearing this, said, "We don't know what happened before, but what is clearly recorded in the video is the child's feet," and added, "Even if some harsh words were said from the back seat, shouldn't there have been an apology first for not controlling the child?" He continued, "If harsh words were not said to the child but the parents reacted like that, given that many people were watching, it seems like an emotional expression that borders on insult."
Netizens who read the story responded with strong reactions such as, "I understand why the child turned out like that," "It's obvious how the child will grow up," "It's a headache when you meet troublemakers on a plane and can't even change seats," "They should be put on a blacklist," "The child can be like that, but the parents cannot," "They didn't ask much from the child, so why act like that?" "They only think their own child is pretty," "There are many ignorant parents these days," and "Just because they are cheap doesn't mean it's okay."
