StudioN partners with Toei Animation and Studio Mir to produce 'Gosu' animation

Naver Webtoon announced on the 24th that its video production subsidiary Studio N has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for collaboration on the production of a series animation of the Naver Webtoon original "Gosu" with Toei Animation and Studio Mir.

The Naver Webtoon original Gosu is an action fantasy depicting fierce battles between the protagonist "Gangryong" and martial arts masters. It has accumulated 1.4 billion views globally.

Studio N, which led the global success of webtoon-based dramas such as "Hounds," "Vigilante," and "The Eight Show," plans to present Gosu as a series animation targeting the global market through this agreement.

Founded in 1956, Toei Animation is Japan's largest animation company, known for global hits like "Dragon Ball," "One Piece," and "Slam Dunk." With over 250 theatrical animations and more than 13,500 series animations, it has built an animation fandom worldwide. Studio Mir produced the Naver Webtoon original Netflix animation "Lookism" and the Disney+ animation "X-Men '97," among others.

Kwon Mikyung, CEO of Studio N, stated, "We will strengthen our production capabilities in the animation field through cooperation with domestic and international production companies, and contribute to expanding the reach of Naver Webtoon's excellent intellectual property (IP) into the global animation market."

Last month, Studio N released the Naver Webtoon original "True Beauty" animation through Crunchyroll, the largest animation streaming platform in North America. It will also be released within the year in Asia, including South Korea. The webtoon-based animation "Letter to Yeon," in which Studio N participated in production, was also invited to the Special Screening section of the Ottawa International Animation Festival (OIAF), one of the world's top three animation film festivals, last month.
