Dongjak-gu, Seoul (Mayor Park Il-ha) announced on the 24th that it has been selected as the only outstanding institution among Seoul's autonomous districts in the Ministry of Health and Welfare's '2024 National Nutrition Management Implementation Plan Evaluation' and will receive a commendation from the Minister of Health and Welfare.

The 'Outstanding Institution Award in the National Nutrition Management Implementation Plan' is given to institutions that have faithfully implemented the national nutrition management implementation plan, significantly contributing to national nutrition management and health promotion, considering the community status and policy conditions.

In this evaluation targeting 229 cities, counties, and districts nationwide, a total of 11 local governments, including Dongjak-gu, were selected as outstanding institutions, and the award ceremony is scheduled to be held in early November.

Dongjak-gu was highly evaluated for establishing the vision of creating a Dongjak-gu where anyone can practice healthy eating habits anytime and anywhere, and for discovering challenging new projects to improve the nutrition of local residents.

It is leading the creation of an environment for practicing healthy eating habits through initiatives such as the '3UP & 3DOWN Dongjak-style Diet,' which provides menus minimizing processed foods with low sugar and low salt to improve nutrition for infants, and the operation of the 'Dongjak-style Health Promotion School' to prevent breakfast skipping among adolescents.

In addition, it was recognized for its multifaceted efforts to eliminate blind spots in nutrition management, such as programs teaching vulnerable children how to choose healthy snacks and conducting 'Take Care of the Frail Elderly Refrigerator,' a program for dietary management and nutrition education for the elderly.

Mayor Park Il-ha said, "It is very meaningful to achieve the great feat of being the only autonomous district in Seoul to receive this award as a result of creative and challenging work to manage the nutrition and promote the health of residents," and added, "We will continue to actively promote customized health promotion projects prioritizing the health of our residents."
