CJ CheilJedang Enters In-flight Meals Market with Qantas Airways in Australia
First Time K-Food Offered on International Routes, Not Seoul-bound Flights
"Will Help Enhance Global Recognition"
CJ CheilJedang has embarked on a 'K-Food global territory expansion' through Australia's largest airline.
On the 24th, CJ CheilJedang announced that it will introduce Bibigo dumplings as in-flight meals on Qantas Airways, Australia's largest airline. The supplied product is Bibigo steamed mandu, consisting of a set of pork and pork & kimchi flavored steamed dumplings (bibigo Steamed Mandu Pork Dumplings·Pork&Kimchi Flavored Dumplings), allowing passengers to enjoy two flavors together.
Starting next month, this product will be offered as a snack to passengers on international flights between Australia and the UK (London), Singapore, the Philippines (Manila), Japan (Tokyo), Canada, and domestic flights to Perth. This is the first time that an overseas airline has provided Bibigo K-Food as an in-flight meal on international routes that are not bound for Seoul. A CJ CheilJedang official said, "Qantas is a representative airline of Australia operating routes to major cities worldwide, so we expect it to help enhance the global recognition of Bibigo dumplings."
CJ CheilJedang plans to intensify its B2B (business-to-business) operations in Australia starting with this supply. Oceania, including Australia, is a key region where CJ CheilJedang is actively fostering its business as part of its 'K-Food global territory expansion.' Currently, Bibigo products are sold through major distribution channels such as Woolworths, Australia's number one large supermarket, Costco, convenience store chain Ezymart, and New Zealand's large supermarket chains New World and PAK’nSAVE. CJ CheilJedang intends to focus on expanding the local K-Food business by accelerating its B2B operations following entry into large distribution channels.
Cha Yoo-jin, head of CJ CheilJedang's Oceania branch, said, "We are introducing Bibigo dumplings as in-flight meals for consumers traveling between Australia and around the world," adding, "We will continue to expand K-Food sales channels through collaboration with various companies."
