Graduate Research Capabilities Shared in Community Festival with Citizens
Science Communicator Gwedo Talk Concert and Other Exciting Events
Pusan National University (President Choi Jaewon) will host the '2024 PNU Graduate School FAIR (Subtitle: Born to Pursue Master's and Ph.D.)', an event that combines academics and festival, organized by the Graduate School and the Graduate Student Council for the first time to celebrate the abundant autumn season. The event will take place over two days, on the 23rd and 24th, at Siwol Square and the university headquarters conference room on campus.
The Pusan National University Graduate School functions as the core of research for the advancement of all sectors of national and regional industry and society. Despite the difficult reality of declining graduate school enrollment in regional universities due to a decreasing school-age population and concentration in the capital area, Pusan National University has strengthened its competitiveness. In the government's 4th phase BK21 Graduate School Innovation Project, it operates 39 education and research groups (teams), ranking second nationwide after Seoul National University, and has received the highest A grade for four consecutive years in annual evaluations.
Through this Graduate School FAIR, where participants can directly explore the in-depth research conducted at Pusan National University in both science and engineering as well as humanities and social sciences, undergraduate students will have the opportunity to redesign their academic paths, while graduate students can share and integrate research across different fields.
It is also expected to provide a valuable opportunity for local youth and parents aspiring to become researchers to learn and experience areas of interest firsthand.
This event, held for the first time in the form of a 'graduate school festival', is designed with a variety of academic and research programs comparable to professional academic conferences, as well as fun festival programs, so that not only Pusan National University undergraduates and graduate students but also students from other universities and citizens can participate together.
Academic programs include a professor talk concert, a talk concert and science film festival with science communicator Gwedo, booths promoting laboratory and department research achievements, a poster street, and a graduate student research competition.
Additionally, festival programs such as a performance by the Pusan National University College of Arts band club, a mini sports event, and food trucks will be held, creating a rich blend of academics and festivities.
Lee Jaewoo, Dean of the Pusan National University Graduate School (Vice President for Education), said, "This event is not just a festival, but holds great significance as an opportunity to attract outstanding talent for the continuous strengthening of our university's research competitiveness and to share the research capabilities of the Pusan National University Graduate School with members both inside and outside the campus, including citizens."
