From the 14th of next month at Qatar Al Khelael Training Center
Our military's tank and artillery forces are participating in an overseas joint exercise for the first time.
On the 23rd, the Army announced that it will dispatch a training unit consisting of a total of 14 pieces of equipment?including 4 K2 tanks, 4 K9 self-propelled howitzers, and 6 combat support vehicles?as well as about 100 soldiers from the 11th Maneuver Division to the joint exercise held at the Al Kharlael Training Center in Qatar for two weeks starting next month on the 14th.
To prepare for this exercise, the Army has undergone about seven months of preparation, including on-site reconnaissance, language acquisition, and heat endurance training. The Navy’s Cheonwangbong-class (4,900-ton) landing ship Nojeokbong will set sail on the 24th carrying the training unit and equipment.
This is also the first time our military’s landing ship is sailing to the Middle East, and the Nojeokbong will participate in the first maritime joint exercise with the Qatar Armed Forces on site. The training will include equipment unloading, local coastal maneuvers, and helicopter takeoff and landing operations.
A Navy official stated, "Our country’s ports have abundant information, so unloading operations can be conducted anytime, but in emergencies, situations requiring unloading in new environments may arise," adding, "Through this exercise, we will become proficient in the procedures for loading and unloading equipment anytime and anywhere."
