'2024 Anseong Matchum Namsadang Baudeogi Festival,' the representative festival of Anseong City, Gyeonggi Province, will be held for four days from the 3rd to the 6th of next month at Anseong Matchum Land and the Anseongcheon area.

Started in 2001, this festival was planned to honor the artistic spirit of Kim Amdeok (金岩德), the first female leader of the Namsadang troupe, a group of wandering performers (流浪藝人) from the Joseon Dynasty, and to inherit and develop the tradition of Namsadangnori.
The city aims to expand this event into a global festival, and this year’s festival will feature world folk performances by the International Council of Organizations of Folklore Festivals and Folk Arts (CIOFF) with participation from various countries such as Indonesia, Poland, and Colombia, operation of foreign supporters, a global harmony event, and special UNESCO performances. Alongside this, the 'Anseong Cultural Market Festa' will be held to enhance the brand of Anseong as a cultural city.
The event will begin on the 2nd of next month with a pre-festival parade called Gilnori around the Ayang-dong area, followed on the 3rd by an opening ceremony at Anseong Matchum Land under the theme 'Baudeogi Meets the World.'
The festival offers various programs including ▲Namsadang Pungmuldan performances ▲Korean traditional musical ▲fusion performances ▲citizen participation stages. The venue will also feature specialty product sales booths and food markets, as well as citizen experience stages such as traditional crafts, folk games, and Hanbok wearing. At Anseongcheon, there will be citizen art stages, dance & busking performances, Anseongcheon music caf?, and youth Baudeogi singing events.
Kim Bora, mayor of Anseong City, said, "This year’s Baudeogi Festival has been prepared with more substantial and vibrant programs than ever to serve as a full-fledged stage for going global," adding, "In Anseong, filled with culture and arts, you will be able to fully enjoy performances that harmonize tradition and modernity."
