The Cultural Heritage Administration's Palace and Royal Tombs Division announced on the 23rd that, starting from the 28th, they will present the exhibition 'Mickey in Deoksugung: Art, Beyond Boundaries' at Deokdeokjeon Hall in Deoksugung Palace in collaboration with Walt Disney Company Korea.

This event was planned to widely promote the value and significance of national heritage. Disney characters known as 'Mickey and Friends' visit Deokdeokjeon Hall, showing a natural harmony with royal heritage through nine works created by young artists and intangible heritage holders.

In particular, Una-young (pen name Heukyoseok), a national heritage ambassador, conveys the experience of 'Mickey and Friends' traveling in Korea and visiting various national heritage sites including Deoksugung through a six-panel folding screen. The work is inspired by the traditional palace painting of the Ten Symbols of Longevity (십장생도, Sipjangsaengdo), which wishes for longevity. Mickey and Minnie dressed in traditional wedding attire and Donald Duck wearing hanbok are depicted.

Artist Kim Se-dong created a digital print work showing Disney characters enjoying themselves in front of the palace. Artist Bu-won reinterpreted Disney characters standing on lotus flowers in ceramics.

In the field of contemporary art, artist Jang Seung-jin and dancheong (traditional multicolored paintwork) master An Yu-jin collaborated on a work featuring Mickey's hand as the motif.

At the pond in Deoksugung, visitors are greeted by a balloon sculpture by artist Kang Jae-won, depicting Disney characters walking on a bird.

During the exhibition, photo zones with Disney character sculptures will be set up throughout Deoksugung for visitors to take pictures.
