This year’s BIPC, under the theme “Ports in Unity: Connecting Continents,” will feature 32 experts from 12 countries as speakers, presenting on major issues and future prospects for the global port and shipping industries.

The conference will address the digitalization and decarbonization of the shipping and port industries, as well as share various cases of global cooperation, seeking ways to overcome immediate challenges and achieve sustainable development.

On the first day, a session to watch will feature Lars Jensen (CEO of Vespucci Maritime), a world-renowned shipping market analyst, and Tan Hua Joo (CEO of Linerlytica).

They will provide in-depth analysis on whether the recent rapid changes in the shipping market are temporary or have become the new normal, and offer insights and predictions on the significant changes expected in the shipping market in 2025.

Session 3, which encapsulates the theme of this year’s conference?“Global Port Cooperation: Success Cases and Future Collaboration”?will also be held.

Jens Meier (President of Hamburg Port Authority), Sam Cho (Commission President of Port of Seattle), and Noel Hacegaba (Deputy Executive Director of Port of Long Beach) will lead discussions, sharing innovative global port partnerships and successful cases in addressing common challenges such as decarbonization and automation in the shipping and port industries.

On the second day, June 25, BIPC will, for the first time, hold a special session in collaboration with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to foster cooperation between advanced ports and ports in developing countries.

This session aims to provide opportunities for ports in developing countries to participate in decarbonization, in line with the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) 2050 goal for decarbonizing the global shipping industry. It will share best practices from advanced ports and discuss practical ways to implement them in developing countries’ ports.

BPA President Kang Junseok stated, “The shipping and port industry is facing unprecedented challenges, and it is more important than ever to come together and share wisdom,” adding, “This year’s Busan International Port Conference will serve as a starting point for sharing knowledge and seeking solutions.”

BIPC is open to everyone free of charge, and details, including the program and speaker information, can be found on the BIPC website.
