Half of Sales Generated from Overseas Markets
Hanwha Galleria announced on the 23rd that it has acquired Pureplus, a beverage manufacturing specialist. Pureplus is a manufacturing company specializing in non-alcoholic beverages for over 30 years, producing a variety of products including health drinks, organic juices, and children's beverages.
The two companies finalized the contract this month after conducting acquisition negotiations since the first half of this year.
According to Galleria, Pureplus is recognized for its strong competitiveness in overseas markets. Based on its proprietary technology, it exports over $15 million (approximately 20 billion KRW) annually to 50 countries worldwide, including the United States, Australia, and Northern Europe. The types of products produced number around 200, including aloe and hangover relief drinks. Pureplus operates a production plant in Hamyang-gun, Gyeongnam.
Last year, Pureplus recorded sales of 41 billion KRW and an operating profit of 1.6 billion KRW. More than half of the total sales come from export performance, strengthening its competitiveness mainly in the global market.
A Hanwha Galleria official said, "In North America and Europe, demand for premium beverages continues to increase," adding, "We will enhance our market competitiveness focusing on the global market."
In addition to its own brand, Pureplus also undertakes contract manufacturing for domestic and international major beverage companies' Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) products. Currently, it supplies products to regional markets and large supermarkets through more than 150 distribution channels nationwide.
Hanwha Galleria plans to actively target the premium health beverage market in the future by leveraging Pureplus's production know-how and product competitiveness.
Kim Cheol-hwan has been appointed as the new CEO to lead Pureplus. Kim joined Hanwha Galleria in 2004 and has been responsible for sales and planning in various business sectors. Pureplus aims to secure the domestic and international beverage markets through production process optimization and the development of various new products.
