Discussing Support Plans for Building a Digital Government

Road name signs using the Korean-style address system will be installed in Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia. Mongolia, which is promoting address system modernization, has adopted the Korean administrative system, and the Korean government plans to actively support the preparation of the "K-Address Based Mongolia Address System Modernization Roadmap."

According to the Ministry of the Interior and Safety on the 23rd, Minister Lee Sang-min will visit Ulaanbaatar until the 24th to promote the Korean-style address system in Mongolia and support the establishment of a digital government. Through this visit, Minister Lee aims to strengthen cooperation in the address sector with Mongolia, develop a future-oriented relationship between the two countries, and expand K-Address to Central Asian countries. In particular, he will meet with Mongolian Prime Minister Luvsannamsrain Oyun-Erdene to hold detailed discussions on cooperation in public administration, including digital government establishment and technological collaboration. The main topics include ▲government cooperation between the two countries ▲cooperation plans related to address system modernization projects and digital government establishment ▲cooperation plans in public administration fields such as the Saemaul Undong movement. To promote this step-by-step, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety plans to prepare the "K-Address Based Mongolia Address System Modernization Roadmap."

In Ulaanbaatar, a Korean-style road name sign called "Seoul Street (Seoullo)" will also be unveiled. The "Seoullo (SEOUL street)" road name sign being installed this time is the first case of installing a Korean-style road name sign overseas. Minister Lee said, "The Korean-style road name sign installed in Ulaanbaatar is the starting point for applying the internationally recognized K-Address to Mongolia's address system modernization," adding, "We will actively cooperate in Mongolia's address system modernization and support Korean companies to enter new address-related businesses in the future."

Minister Lee will also meet with the Minister of the Cabinet Secretariat of Mongolia to discuss the need for cooperation related to digital government, including a preliminary feasibility study project for building Mongolia's digital ID. Based on this, an MOU is planned to be signed, which includes cooperation activities for companies related to digital government, expected to provide an opportunity for excellent Korean IT companies to expand into Mongolia. Specifically, this includes ▲sharing best practices and human exchanges to strengthen digital government capabilities ▲cooperation activities for companies related to digital government ▲policy advice and technical support in the enactment and revision of laws related to digital government development ▲support for the introduction of an integrated address system and sharing experiences in database construction.

Minister Lee said, "This visit will be an opportunity to expand cooperation in the address sector, including Mongolia's K-Address based address system modernization project, and support the establishment of Mongolia's digital government, taking mutual cooperation between the two countries to the next level," adding, "We will continue to strive to spread our excellent K-Address system and digital government-related technologies and experiences beyond Mongolia to the world."
