Jinju Mayor Cho Kyu-il Inspects Heavy Rain Damage Sites, Orders "Swift Restoration" Mayor Cho Kyuil inspected disaster-prone areas in the jurisdiction on the 20th following the issuance of a heavy rain advisory due to Typhoon 'Pula San'.

On the 20th, as a heavy rain advisory was issued due to the weakening tropical depression from Typhoon Pulasan, Mayor Jo convened a situation assessment meeting and inspected disaster-prone areas in the city on the 21st.

Jinju City entered emergency duty status to prevent damage until the heavy rain warning was lifted. During this period, the Disaster Safety Situation Room, consisting of twelve initial response departments, was actively utilized to communicate with local towns and villages. The city made every effort to minimize damage by preemptively evacuating residents from roads at risk of flooding and areas vulnerable to landslides.

At the meeting on the 22nd, Mayor Jo said, "I would like to thank the staff who actively participated in emergency duties such as site monitoring and guiding resident evacuations for the safety of our citizens during this unusual heavy rainfall, as well as related agencies such as the fire department and police department for their cooperation with our city." He also requested, "Please continue post-monitoring efforts to prevent secondary damage."

Prior to the meeting, Mayor Jo visited a pepper farm in a greenhouse in Jungcheon-ri, Geumsan-myeon, the area most affected by farmland flooding during this heavy rain, to console the farmers. He instructed thorough investigation of the damaged crops and reinforcement of on-site technical support to prevent secondary damage such as disease and pest outbreaks.

Meanwhile, Jinju City plans to conduct damage assessments caused by the heavy rain for the next ten days through the town, township, and neighborhood administrative welfare centers and to proceed with swift restoration.
