Guro-gu Improves Road Structure at Guro IC on Nambusunhwan-ro to Create a Safer Traffic Environment

Improvement of Inefficient Road Structure at Guro IC Entrance on Nambusunhwan-ro... Creation of At-Grade Intersection
New Traffic Signals Installed at At-Grade Intersection

Guro-gu (Mayor Moon Heon-il) commenced road structure improvement construction in May on the section entering Guro IC on Nambusunhwan-ro.

The entrance section to Guro IC in Guro 1-dong, where Nambusunhwan-ro and Guil-ro meet, had issues with vehicles crossing paths and wrong-way driving, causing confusion for drivers and posing a risk of collisions, making road structure improvements necessary.

Accordingly, after completing the basic and detailed design services in October 2023, the district secured a budget of 3.4 billion KRW entirely from city funds to close the existing merging point at Guro IC on Nambusunhwan-ro and construct an at-grade intersection at the entrance to Guro 1-dong.

The newly established at-grade intersection will be a three-way intersection in front of Songyun Noblian Apartment, where, unlike the previously non-signalized roads, new traffic signals will be installed to prevent safety accidents.

Additionally, the project includes upgrading aging sewer pipelines, transplanting trees, and landscaping work to promote comprehensive environmental improvements for residents.

The district plans to complete this construction by the end of November.

Once the Guro IC road structure improvement project is completed, the existing irrational road structure will be improved, creating a safer traffic environment.

A Guro-gu official stated, “Since Nambusunhwan-ro Guro IC is a road used by many vehicles, we will do our best to complete the construction safely,” and added, “We ask for the understanding and cooperation of residents regarding any inconveniences such as traffic congestion caused by the construction.”
