In charge of inspection and management of presidential relatives during the Moon administration
The prosecution investigating allegations of preferential hiring at Thai Starjet involving the son-in-law of former President Moon Jae-in is summoning a former Blue House administrative officer for questioning.
The Criminal Division 3 of Jeonju District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Han Yeon-gyu) announced on the 22nd that former Blue House administrative officer Shin Mo will be summoned as a witness on the 27th at 2 p.m. Shin served as an administrative officer in the Civil Affairs Secretariat of the Blue House during the Moon Jae-in administration, responsible for managing inspections of the president's relatives.
The prosecution believes that Shin was involved throughout the process of Moon Da-hye, daughter of former President Moon, relocating to Thailand following the employment of Moon's son-in-law, Seo, at Thai Starjet.
When Shin did not respond to the summons as a witness, the prosecution unusually conducted a witness examination before the trial date at the Seoul Southern District Court on the 9th. However, Shin refused to testify about 70 times.
Earlier, in May, Shin filed a quasi-appeal with the court, claiming that the prosecution's search and seizure was unjust. A quasi-appeal is a system where one requests the court to cancel a disposition by investigative agencies such as the execution of a warrant.
The court accepted Shin's claim on the grounds that "the prosecution did not go through a selective process regarding contacts included in the mobile phone," but the prosecution filed a re-appeal, stating that "the investigation is being conducted minimally according to lawful procedures."
