On the 21st at 4 p.m., Oh Seung-rok, the mayor of Nowon-gu, attended the 'Seokgye Station Moonlight Night Walk (夜行)' event held around Seokgye Station Cultural Park in Nowon-gu, Seoul.
The Seokgye Station Moonlight Night Walk (夜行) was selected as part of Seoul City's '2024 Nighttime and Food Culture Revitalization Support Project' and was organized to revitalize the stagnant Wolgye-dong alley commercial district and promote the charm of the local business area.
The area around Seokgye Station Cultural Park was richly decorated with a variety of foods suitable for a food culture event. Local merchants from Nowon-gu, including Wolgye-dong and Gongneung-dong, participated to offer high-quality food at reasonable prices.
Various beverages prepared by Nowon's craft beer brewery and the Gongneung-dong Dokkaebi Market Merchants Association were also very popular. The food provided at 22 booths, coffee and desserts at 5 booths, and craft beer and handcrafted Makgeolli at 3 booths captivated the visitors' taste buds.
On the main stage, diverse performances such as the main concert by singer Hyun Jin-young, DJing, and retro dance were held, greatly enhancing the festive atmosphere. A children's playground was also set up, providing entertainment for family visitors.
On the day of the event, the Seokgye Station public parking lot was transformed into a resting area for visitors, featuring acoustic guitar busking performances and experiential programs that evoked nostalgia for the 70s and 80s, receiving great responses.
Oh Seung-rok, mayor of Nowon-gu, said, "I hope that the food culture event 'Seokgye Station Moonlight Night Walk,' enhanced with cultural events, will bring vitality to the local commercial districts including Wolgye-dong." He added, "We will continue to strive to advance regional economic development through various opportunities that combine local commerce and culture."
